Web Site Architecture

After the construction of a web site template, the next step is to build up the site architecture.

This involves adding the linking and generating all of the pages of the site. These page are generated as blanks with no content. This allows W3 Teck to ensure that all the pages that will be needed exist on the site and that all of the main links on the site are in working order. The only content added at this time is a unique heading on each page which allows us to see that we are actually viewing a new page when we click on a link.

While some developers like to build pages as they add content, at W3 Teck we have found that our method is less prone to errors like forgetting pages or forgetting to add links to a page that has been created. This process is usually accomplished quickly and completely tested before content is added.

Another reason that we like to create all the blank pages first is that we can discover anything that might have been overlooked or that might cause problems in the way the pages of the site are linked together and corrected this before a lot of time is spent on adding content that would need to change if the pages needed to be rearranged or re-thought.

This process is billed at the Static Development Rate.
